One Year Later. March 1, 2011

It's been a little over a year since the Mommy Makeover. I haven't touched the blog in all this time except to reply to comments and emails here and there. I simply didn't think there was much to say after the experience. "It was great. I'd do it all over again. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to get their pre-baby body back." That's about all I thought there was to add to the blog and that didn't seem worthy of a post.

But here we are a year later and the blog is getting more traffic than ever. Hundreds of people visit the blog every single day. And that tells me that there are people who are hungry for information on this topic. And it got me wondering how many people are out there wondering about tummy tucks and breast augmentations that don't know how to find my blog. Sure, if you Google "mommy makeover blog" you can find me.

But how many people hungry for information wouldn't even know to look for a blog?

So my husband and I talked about it and decided that it made sense to turn the blog into a book. It could get the message out to people who wouldn't think to look for a blog. It could get the story in front of an entirely new segment of moms who might benefit from my experience. And because 99% of the comments we get are positive and encouraging, we like to think it's a story worth telling.

Of course, releasing the blog as a book means charging money for it. That could indicate that I have different motives for the blog than I have previously explained. Couple that with the news I just got that Dr. Hynes has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, and my best friend in the world carries the gene that indicates she has a high probability of getting breast cancer and is about to undergo some major surgery, and I've decided that I want to donate a portion of every book sale to cancer research. I started this journey for me. I don't apologize for that. But then it turned into more. The blog was well received and I've gotten emails from around the world from ladies who have gained information and encouragement from my blog. Feeling good about my body has been great. Feeling good about helping other women on their journey has been the icing on the cake. And now, if I can sell some books, and it advances cancer research even a little bit, I will feel that I've gotten another gift from this experience.

So . . . if the blog is going to be a book, I'm going to need to complete the story. After all, there is more to tell. A year later, and I've had experiences that need to be shared. So I begin the final chapter.
