Pre-Op Appointment. October 5, 2009
Tomorrow is the big day. So today, I had my pre-op appointment. When David and I got to the office we met Dr. Hynes' new receptionist. It was funny because she called me the "Famous Emily". Really? Me? I thought that was funny. I did this to help out other Moms like me. I certainly didn't do this to become famous, and I don't see myself in that way at all. I guess it isn't "recognize you on the street famous" but I gotta admit, it is kinda neat.
Before Dr. Hynes came in, Kim, his patient coordinator came in and took the plastic surgery "mug shots". We took PG-13 pics for my blog and we also took some topless pics for my file and for use in Dr. Hynes' patient albums. It was a bit weird but Kim did a great job of making me feel comfortable.
When Dr. Hynes came in, he was friendly and put me at ease. We talked about Sci-fi. (We're both big fans of Dune.) Then he got out his tape measure, a ruler, and a magic marker and began well, measuring and marking.
Did you ever have a marker fight with your friends as a kid? That's what I look like right now. I have a vertical line down my belly, a horizontal line underneath my belly and one under each of my breasts. It's amazing that these few lines will assist Dr. Hynes is creating the new contour to my body.
Dr. Hynes went over all the activities I can and cannot do for the next few days. The medicines, the very classy white "support hose" (my grandmother would be proud) that I have to wear, when I'll be able to eat, when I'll be able to get back to normal activity and all that stuff. I told him to get a good night sleep and I would see him in the morning. He teased me by saying that he had a big party to attend tonight.
Kim then took me to the pharmacy to help me get the hose and prescriptions. She let me know that it was okay to have a couple of Tylenol PM or a glass of wine to help me relax before bed, just not a whole bottle. I will probably take her up on the Tylenol PM. I would love to take a nice long bath but alas the marker...
Well, it's off to bed with my little blue tablets and up bright and early for a brand new day. I have to be at the hospital at 6:00 AM. If you're on Twitter, David will be tweeting from my account tomorrow if you want to follow me on Twitter.
I hope to have a post tomorrow night but we will see what the drugs say. Thanks for all the well wishes and love. Talk at you soon!

I'll be thinking of you all day tomorrow and will be checking your blog to hear about it. I will say a little prayer for you!
